Swami Ramchandra Das and His Vision: Transforming Lives through Education and Spirituality

Welcome to Auronepal.org, where we share the inspiring journey of Ramchandra Das and his profound vision to uplift the lives of the underprivileged children of Nepal.

A Journey of Quest and Knowledge

Swami Ramchandra Das embarked on a remarkable journey at a tender age, leaving his homeland Nepal for India, driven by the desire to support his family. Like many Nepali youths, he found himself working as a domestic worker. However, amidst the challenges, his thirst for knowledge prevailed.
Witnessing Indian children attending school, Swami  yearned for education. Alone and determined, he sought wisdom in Ashrams and under the guidance of Gurus. His years in various Ashrams across different cities led him to Vedic education, eventually making him a professor of Sanskrit Literature at Delhi.

The turning point in his spiritual journey came when he discovered the teachings of Sri Aurobindo. Without hesitation, he embarked on a new journey to Puducherry, where he served Champaklal Jee till the end, the principal disciple of Sri Aurobindo.

From Ashrams to Nepal: A Vision Unveiled

A Yogi at heart, Swami Ramchandra Das made a life-altering decision. Leaving the comfort of Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Puducherry, he returned to Nepal with a vision – to establish an Ashram dedicated to providing both modern and spiritual education to the impoverished children of Nepal.

Starting with a small rented apartment and a handful of family members’ children, Swami Ramchandra faced the challenge of convincing others to trust his vision. Rooted in the principles of Karma Yoga and devoted to Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, he persevered.

What is Swami Ramchandra Das’s vision for the children at Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir?

Swami Ramchandra Das’s vision materialized as the Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir. In a few decades, this humble beginning has grown into three centers that educate over 500 children annually, completely free of charge. The Ashram not only imparts modern education but also instills Vedic teachings.

The center not only educates but also nurtures these children, providing them with housing, nutrition, and holistic care for their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Swami ji’s  dream extends beyond the present – he envisions these children becoming responsible global citizens, leading organizations and nations.
